Can you sleep on a Full Moon?

We've had many clients tell us that they struggle to sleep on a full moon. We're interested to hear your experience.

The full moon has been a source of fascination and mystique for centuries. It's been the subject of countless stories, songs, and works of art, and has even been said to affect human behavior. Many people believe that the full moon can affect their sleep, and studies have shown that there may be some truth to this.

Struggling to sleep during a full moon is not uncommon, and it can be a frustrating experience. For some people, the brightness of the moon keeps them awake, while for others, it's the energy and restlessness that comes with the full moon. Whatever the reason, there are some strategies you can try to help you get a better night's sleep during a full moon.

1. Create a relaxing environment

Creating a relaxing environment can help you sleep better on any night, but it's especially important during a full moon. Make sure your bedroom is cool, dark, and quiet. Use blackout curtains or an eye mask to block out the light from the moon. Use earplugs or a white noise machine to drown out any outside noises that may be keeping you awake.

2. Practice relaxation techniques

Relaxation techniques can help calm your mind and body, making it easier to fall asleep. Try deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation. You can also try taking a warm bath or shower before bed to help you relax.

3. Avoid stimulants

Stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol can interfere with sleep, so it's best to avoid them altogether, especially during a full moon. Stick to non-caffeinated drinks like herbal tea, and avoid alcohol in the hours leading up to bedtime.

4. Practice good sleep hygiene

Good sleep hygiene includes sticking to a regular sleep schedule, avoiding naps during the day, and limiting your screen time before bed. It's important to establish a consistent bedtime routine and stick to it every night, even on weekends.

5. Consider natural remedies

There are a number of natural remedies that may help you sleep better during a full moon. Some people find that chamomile tea or valerian root can help them relax and fall asleep. Others swear by lavender essential oil or a warm glass of milk before bed.

While there's no definitive proof that the full moon affects human sleep patterns, many people report struggling to sleep during a full moon. By creating a relaxing environment, practicing relaxation techniques, avoiding stimulants, practicing good sleep hygiene, and considering natural remedies, you can increase your chances of getting a good night's sleep, regardless of the lunar phase.
